May 31, 2019 - Construction Update

The contractor began construction of the Route 123 Sidewalk Improvements on May 1, 2019.


During the week of May 26 – June 1 the Contractor:

  • Began excavating and installed 87 LF of six-inch DI water main pile and one fire hydrant at the corner of Rust Hill Place and Chain Bridge Road

  • Continued erosion and sediment control measures

  • Continued staging two flaggers at the front entrances for residents at the Mews during rush hour traffic Monday-Friday on University Drive and Whitehead during the hours of 7:00-9:00 AM

  • Assisted Fairfax Water with filling the new water main along Chain Bridge Road to begin the pressure/leak test prior to doing tie-in to existing water main

Activities planned for the week of June 2 – June 8 include:

  • Begin chain link and silt fence installations

  • Finish water main installation

  • Conduct pressure testing and collect water quality samples from new water main

  • Continue tree cutting along Chain Bridge Road
